OUTCRY: APPALING CONDITION AT FORT PORTAL REGIONAL REFERRAL HOSPITAL -Kasami Rogers Mike

The situation in this government hospital is so wanting and requires positive action. Many people have lost their lives and others suffered in different ways as a result of negligence, discrimination and corruption at the facility. 

At least the government tries to supply medicine, labaratory equipment, sandries and other medical items required but then the patients do not easily access them or don't even some access them at all due to the selfish and greedy hospital workers who hide them, at times sell them in that very hospital or steal them and take them to their private medical centres. This is so devastating!

 If a patient is admitted, they are  asked to buy medicine from the pharmacy then bring to the nurses and doctors for treatment, patients are asked to buy small things like gloves, syringes, cannular giving sets and fluids.

At the maternity ward, the mothers sleep down without even mattresses when some hospital mattresses are lying in the staff quarters being misused, some even sleep on verandas with their attendants under coldness and dirty condition, some end up getting infections in the long run. It is unfortunate that some poor mothers keep unattended to and end up losing their babies or their own lives in the process. 

Doctors ask for money to operate a patient, without it, they don't touch you , if you're lucky to get chance to access them anyway since they give more concentration to their private medical facilities and part timing.In theatre,some doctors use unsterile instruments and do the work carelessly which ends up causing sepsis and other complications to the operated. Patients die miserably at the hands of negligence medical personnel.

Some medicine and hospital equipment is stolen through the mortuary since it is wrapped like dead bodies, and cars with unknown people come to pick them from there as if they're taking dead bodies so that one may not easily notice. You can imagine the extent things have reached.

Some doctors give referrals and  appointment to patients in private hospitals so that they can find them there .

We are tired of all this and therefore ask for intervention.This is the region which gives almost 100% support to the ruling government of NRM,why then should the electorates suffer like that?Serious investigation should be made and action taken .
