Eng. Julius Nakiyi, the director of Rosewood Hotels, has released a tentative program for his campaign as he prepares to contest for the Budadiri East Parliamentary seat in the 2026 general elections. Nakiyi previously contested in the 2021 elections but lost to the current MP, Sasaga Isiah Wanzila, by a margin of 149,835 votes. (Sasaga secured 15,776 votes, Vincent Woboya 12,152, and Julius Nakiyi 7,941).
Nakiyi has confirmed that he will run on the NRM ticket. He announced that he will officially launch his campaign in Elgon Sub-county on February 1st, with schedules for other sub-counties to be shared thereafter. He urged residents in other sub-counties to await his visit, as he intends to meet voters in every sub-county.
Nakiyi also encouraged voters to participate in the ongoing voter register update, emphasizing its importance in confirming their eligibility to vote.
Nakiyi will face tough competition from the incumbent Sasaga Isiah Wanzila, Vincent Woboya, Kiwungulo John, Nanoka Mike, and others.
