Will Veteran Politician Wambede Stand The Pressure From NUP’S Masaba Ivan & RCC Hood Hussein in Northern Division City In 2026

As we draw closer to 2026 general elections, several new candidates have shown intres in outing long term serving politicians from their constituencies.

As a political reporter, Arnold Musamali draws light in Northern city division city in Mbale.

With reliable source gathered by our reporter, former Kampala City and Masaka City RCC, currently the RDC of Kumi District, Hood Hussein has joined the journey of outing veteran  politician, Hon Seth Wambede Kizangi from Northern city division  in Mbale City.

Tentative reports on ground shows that Hood's move to be transferred from Masaka City to Kumi is part of his political move to focus on politics.

It shouod be noted that Hon. Wambede Seth kizangi is the current Member of Parliament for Northern City, after controversy declaration in 2021.

For the starters, in 2021, the returning officer first announced Ivan Masaba of the National Unity Platform as the overall winner of the race in Northern city division.

The declaration sparked off, leading to the suspension of the process as they harmonised the alarming situation.

Though the suspension never yield better results for the nup candidate, but rather a gain for NRM’S Wambede.

After the Declaration, NUP’S  Masaba went to court to challenge Wambede's Victory, but he lost both cases including court of appeal.

Court ordered NUP’S  Masaba to compensate Hon. Wambede over 400m shillings.

What You Need To Know:

During the January 14th, 2021 polls, Masaba polled 9,415 votes against 9,854 votes garnered by his rival Seth Kizangi Massa Wambede. He petitioned Mbale High court accusing Wambede of falsifying the results from Makosi trading center polling station in Bukonde and ballot stuffing.

However, Mbale High court dismissed the petition citing insufficient evidence by the applicant. While appearing before the three-member panel of the Court of Appeal comprising Justice Richard Buteera, Hellen Obura, and Catherine Bamugemereire. Masaba noted that the lower court erred when it failed to inquire into the results from Makosi polling station.

He also noted that it is was unfair for the lower court to ignore the evidence of the death of two voters from Makosi polling station prior to the voting and yet the declaration of results show that all registered voters turned up.

Besides asking the Court of Appeal to cancel the results, Masaba also argues that his case was determined by a standard of proof higher than that required in parliamentary election petitions.

However, Wambede through his lawyer Geoffrey Komakech from M/S Victoria and Legal Advocates asked the court of appeal to determine the matter based on the query around the standard of proof, which came as issue number 2 in Masaba’s appeal.

The question remains. Will Hood Hussein or Masaba out Veteran Politician Wambede Seth.
