Bobi Wine’s brother Fred Nyanzi abducted by heavily armed men

Kampala, (UG):- The opposition National Unity Platform (NUP) President Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine has raised after heavily armed gunmen allegedly abducted his elder brother, Mr Fred Nyanzi Ssentamu from Kampala in broad-day light.

According to Bobi Wine, Nyanzi, who is also NUP’s Head of Mobilization was forcefully taken by heavily armed men at gunpoint from Kubbiri Roundabout in Mulago on Monday evening and driven away in a drone vehicle to an undisclosed location.

“Our comrade and Head of Mobilization for NUP, Nyanzi Fred Ssentamu, has been abducted by heavily armed men and taken away in a drone to an unknown destination! He was abducted at gunpoint from Kubbiri Roundabout,” Bobi Wine stated via his official X platform. “The criminal regime is on a rampage, BUT WE ARE NOT INTIMIDATED.”

In another update, Bobi Wine revealed that Nyanzi’s abduction occurred shortly after they “hosted fellow leaders from the different political parties and formations to discuss the deteriorating human rights situation, with a special focus on the dire health of Dr Kizza Besigye.”

“We expressed solidarity with Dr. Besigye and other prisoners of conscience and agreed to work together on some joint actions aimed at addressing this crisis,” he added.

The alleged abduction of Nyanzicame just hours after the party earlier reported that its deputy spokesperson, Mr Alex Waisswa Mufumbiro had also been reportedly “abducted by armed regime operatives.”

NUP Secretary-General, Mr David Lewis Rubongoya also took to social media to decry the incident, stating, “Chairman Nyanzi Fred Ssentamu, the NUP Head of Mobilization, has been violently abducted at gunpoint from Kubbiri traffic lights and driven off in a drone. The impunity only keeps growing by the day.”
