FDC's Nandala Donates 200 Iron Sheets to Nampanga Primary School

Budadiri West MP Nathan Nandala Mafabi on Friday afternoon donated 200 iron sheets to Nampanga Primary School in Mafudu Sub-county, Sironko District, fulfilling a commitment he made during a district leaders’ tour focused on road conditions. The donation is intended to roof a dilapidated classroom block, as requested by local residents.

Rev. Jackson Magombe, the Director of Operations and Communications in the office of the Budadiri West MP, delivered 200 iron sheets (28 gauge), 50kg of roofing nails, and pledged to cover labor costs for the roofing installation.

He promised that by Monday, the foundation’s engineering team would begin upgrading the building with new timber to enhance its structure and provide a better learning environment.

Magomu Cuthbert, the headteacher of Nampanga Primary School, expressed his gratitude for the donation. He shared that last year, the school ranked second in the district in Primary Leaving Examination (PLE) results. With the new classroom block, he is optimistic that students will perform even better as they will finally have a more comfortable learning environment.

However, he also highlighted several challenges the school faces, including insufficient infrastructure, furniture, and sanitation facilities.

He explained that the school has an enrollment of 1,564 pupils, yet they all share a single five-stance pit latrine. He appealed to the MP to support the construction of an additional latrine to ensure proper sanitation and separation of boys and girls, in line with the required school ratio of 1:42.

Magomu also urged parents to take responsibility for their children’s education by providing necessary scholastic materials and meals.

Gidudu Simon Godfrey, the chairman of the school management committee, also thanked MP Nandala for his support but emphasized the need for further interventions. He called on all stakeholders to work together to improve the school’s conditions for the benefit of its learners.
