From Presidential candidate to Mp- Confirmed, Retired Army Gen. Tumukunde to Contest As Mp In 2026

Retired General Henery Tumukunde has abandoned the Presidential position for the constituency seat in the forthcoming 2026 General elections.

Tumukunde is set to contest in Rukungiri Municipality.

Henry Tumukunde is a politician and retired senior military officer of the Uganda People's Defence Forces (UPDF). 

He ran as an independent candidate for president in the 2021 Ugandan general election.
