According his political assistant Jackson Sunny Ssekadde, Retired General Henery Tumukunde is set to contest as a member of parliament in the forthcoming 2026 General elections.
Tumukunde is set to contest in Rukungiri Municipality.
He is set to battle it out with the incumbent, Hon Elisa Rutahigwa, and more 7 others.
Henry Tumukunde is a seasoned politician & retired senior military officer of the Uganda People's Defence Forces (UPDF).
He ran as an independent candidate for president in the 2021 Ugandan general election.
It should be well noted that Gen Tumukende was once a member of parliament that championed the birth of the constitution of Uganda in 1995, Tumukunde was also once a member of parliament representing the Army.
