Lawyer Hudu Hussein has been honoured by Public Opinions with the prestigious 2025 Uganda Development Champions Award and recognised as the best performing Resident District Commissioner (RDC) in Uganda after a countrywide survey conducted by Public Opinions.
Hudu hussein is recognised for his unwavering contributions towards attainment of Uganda Vision 2040 and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals as well explaining the Manifesto of the National Resistance Movement party (NRM).
Hudu hussein was also baptized in mbale district and entire elgon region as a Muhoozi Diehard due to his dedicated support for first son Gen muhoozi Kainerugaba.
Hudu is believed to be deeply linked to the first family and people in mbale believe that electing him as a member of parliament will be of help to secure better opportunity for the people of mbale.
Hudu started woeking as a volunteer at the NRM Secretariat, served as General secretary of the youth league of the ruling National Resistance Movement led by H.E Gen museveni, Hudu Hussein served as Administrator of the NRM Institutions League, he served unwaveringly at the Government citizens interaction centre . Hudu has remained loyal to the national resistance movement and to its leadership.

It should be noted that an attempt to end fights in the taxi business of Kampala had failed for several years despite attempts even from State House until Hudu single handedly successfully United them, suggesting the name UTOF to them and going ahead to have it registered.
Hudu is known for pioneering the smart city movement in Kampala which resulted in vendors leaving the streets of Kampala for Usafi Market. The streets of Kampala were passable, and the city looked far more organized under his leadership. He relocated vendors, stopped street children from overwhelming the streets and required all buildings in Kampala to be marked, painted and lit up like any building deserving to be in a city for beauty, crime reduction and easy identification.
For the one-year and 3 months period he was the RCC of Kampala, Hudu’s impact was so phenomenal that he got in trouble with leaders including Lord mayor Lukwago and his KCCA council whose priority was populism over a developing city, eventually calming them all according to hudu.
While politics in Kampala is generally unfavourable for the NRM party, it is on record that opposition stalwarts celebrated the departure of Hudu from Kampala due to his political weight and endless exposition of their weaknesses on radio talk shows, regular newspaper articles and TV appearances.
His time of service in Kampala gave the NRM party visibility in a largely opposition dominated political arena.
In Masaka City
Even the brief time he has been in Masaka City ( for about 2 years) has been very fundamental in quenching opposition propaganda to government programs and sectarian politics. With his legal knowledge, Hudu managed to deal with contentious land matters in Masaka City soberly which some of his predecessors struggled with. His mobilization skills and ability to unite factions within the NRM leadership of Masaka is noticeable and uniting NRM and opposition to work for the common good.
While it cannot be said that divisions within the NRM no longer exist, he has been instrumental in reducing on the disorganization and disunity in the party. Most importantly, he will be remembered for standing tall on service delivery especially for socio-economic empowerment programs like PDM, Emyooga, etc, in Masaka region and even boldly engineering the arrest of some civil servants like commercial officer, who was found misusing Emyooga funds, the Education officer for allegedly inflating the number of pupils in school, the Chief Financial Officer of Masaka District,among other about 10 emyooga group defaulters.
He is one RDC who has made the country appreciate this office better, giving it visibility more than any other RDC this country has ever had
He is the current RDC for Kumi district in Teso sub region in Eastern Uganda.
