President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has held a strategic meeting with the National Resistance Movement (NRM) Secretariat Top Management Team, led by the party’s Secretary General, Rt. Hon. Richard Todwong, at State House Nakasero. The discussions centered on critical financial and economic matters that are fundamental to the ruling party’s mission of national development and transformation.
NRM’s Focus on Economic Stability and Wealth Creation
During the engagement, Secretary General Todwong assured President Museveni of the party leadership’s commitment to enhancing wealth creation as a key pillar of economic stability. He reiterated the NRM Secretariat’s strategic efforts to uplift the livelihoods of Ugandans through sustainable economic initiatives aligned with the NRM’s long-term vision.
“The NRM Secretariat is dedicated to ensuring that the party's agenda remains focused on wealth creation, economic progress, and stability, which are vital in advancing Uganda’s financial and developmental goals,” Todwong emphasized.
President Museveni, who is also the NRM National Chairman, reaffirmed the party’s commitment to strengthening grassroots mobilization, ensuring economic empowerment, and maintaining national security to facilitate sustainable growth.
Meanwhile, the NRM has welcomed a high-level delegation from Kenya’s ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) for a six-day working visit aimed at strengthening political and economic cooperation between the two parties.
The 19-member delegation, led by UDA Secretary General Senator Hassan Omar, was received by Hon. Richard Todwong and the NRM Director of External Affairs, Major Awich Pollar.
Speaking during the official reception, Todwong highlighted the importance of deepening bilateral relations between the two ruling parties, emphasizing the need for regional integration and shared developmental goals.
“The NRM and UDA are committed to fostering strong political and economic cooperation that will benefit not only our two parties but also the broader East African region,” Todwong said.
As part of their visit, the UDA delegation was hosted at the National Leadership Institute (NALI) in Kyankwanzi, where they participated in discussions on leadership, governance, and ideological training. The delegation expressed admiration for Uganda’s approach to cadre development and institutional strengthening.
UDA Secretary General Hassan Omar revealed that Kenya is keen on replicating Uganda’s model by establishing a similar ideological training institute to enhance leadership capacity within the UDA.
“We intend to build a leadership institute in Kenya that will shape and train our cadres to be ideologically grounded and committed to the vision of national transformation,” Omar said.
Major Awich Pollar emphasized the shared vision between the two ruling parties, noting that the exchange of best practices would foster greater political stability and regional cooperation.
“The NRM and UDA share common aspirations of transforming the lives of our people and championing East Africa’s political federation,” Major Awich stated.
