As we draw closer to 2026 general elections, many politicians are now on the ground to mobilize, most especially those candidates who first contest for party primaries.
The momentum of competition for Mbale District MP seat is still down with no strong candidates vowing to give hard time to Hon. Miriam Mukhaye, the incumbent.
Ever since Soobi lost the election petition case, she disappeared from the constituency. The inside source has it that Soobi flee the country, fearing arrests over debts, including that of her competitor
What You Need To Know:
It should be noted that in 2021, general elections, Mbale district Woman Mp race was very tight.
The race had more than five candidates, but the focus was between Musuya Soobi and Mukhaye Miriam.
During the NRM primaries, Musuya was declared the winner. This never stopped Miriam from contesting as an independent candidate.
Shockingly, Miriam massively won the finals and was declared the Woman member of parliament, 2021-2026.
Miriam's victory was challenged in court by her competitor, Musuya Soobi, but unfortunately, she lost the case.
Justice Oyuko Ojok dismissed with costs the election petition by Musuya Soobi challenging the victory of Miriam Mukhaye for Mable District Woman MP.
Soobi had also filled the petition, citing irregularities in the polls that she failed to prove to the court.
Our investigations show that Soobi is scared of running again in 2026 against Mukhaye because she has never paid her the court costs amounting to over 500m.
Now, this gives Miriam great chances to massively win again as the Mbale district Woman Mp race in 2026.
