"Ltn. Gen. Nalweyiso is an icon in the history of Uganda, who are you to this country and Stop insulting her" Keffa Mafumo to NUP’S Mufumbiro.
Yesterday while in a political talk show on Open gate radio in Mbale, Keffa Mafumo sounded a strong warning to NUP’S Deputy Speaker, Alex Waisswa Mufumbiro for continuously insulting Gen. ANalweyiso.
Mafumo who sounded bitter rated Mufumbiro as a kampala street boy who has contributed nothing to this country, but rather keeps insulting different icons, ie president M7 and other officials.
"We cant just look on when street boys like Mufumbiro are insulting Generals like Nalweyiso, who contributed towards the libation of this country. You can not even declear a person dead yet they are alive and we ignore you"-Mafumo said.
Mafumo further accused Bobi Wine for grooming a gang of thugs and critics instead of intellectuals.
Keffa Mafumo is a state House official, and also planning to contest for Member of Parliament, In Butiru County, in the forthcoming 2026 general election.

Africans risingMeet Proscovia Nalweyiso, appointed Uganda’s first female Major General
In 2011, Proscovia Nalweyiso became the first female Brigadier General in Uganda, a noteworthy achievement, which was celebrated across the continent. Fast-forward to 2017, the country has recorded another remarkable milestone, the promotion of Brig Nalweyiso to the rank of Major General. With the appointment, Nalweyiso becomes the country’s first female Major General, and one of the few women across the continent to hold such a powerful military position. We applaud and congratulate Maj Gen Nalweyiso on the historic achievement.
It should be noted that in 2011, Proscovia Nalweyiso became the first female Brigadier General in Uganda, a noteworthy achievement, which was celebrated across the continent. Fast-forward to 2017, the country has recorded another remarkable milestone, the promotion of Brigadier Nalweyiso to the rank of Major General.
Nalweyiso was among several officers promoted, transferred or replaced by President Yoweri Museveni and announced in a press release by the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF).
Mafumo further said that Nalweyiso is celebrated and is a role model to other women worldwide.
"With the appointment, Nalweyiso was the country’s first Major General, and one of the few women across the continent to hold such a powerful military position. Therefore as a street boy like Waisswa, you have no moral authority to abuse her" - he said.
But Who Is Nalweyiso:
Born in June 1954 in Mpigi, Maj Gen Nalweyiso has extensive military experience. The 62 year-old joined the National Resistance Army (NRA) in 1982, and she played a key role in the armed resistance war.
When the NRA emerged victorious, the NRA became the national army. After distinguishing herself in the resistance war Nalweyiso held various top ranks, first as Captain and she was deployed as Commandant of the Women’s Wing in the Army. She rose through the ranks, from Major, Lt. Colonel, and Brigadier to her latest appointment as Maj General.
The historic development is proof that women in Uganda and Africa are indeed pushing boundaries and scaling barriers, which have for long seemed insurmountable. The historic appointment will undoubtedly inspire young girls and women in Uganda, and indeed across the continent to follow their dreams, and reach for their goals.
What You Need To Know:
Waisswa Mufumbiro had made several submissions on media houses and social media which insults government officials.
Few months ago, Waisswa through a TikTok post announced the death of retired Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) officer Lt Gen Proscovia Nalweyiso is FALSE.
The video’s text in Luganda reads; “Yiii ensi ettwemalizaamu bwerere. Laba Nalweyiso bwawona amasasi atte naafa sukkaali” which translates to, “All is vanity. See, she survived bullets but has succumbed to diabetes.”
The claim alleges the highest-ranking ex-female UPDF officer died of diabetes.
The video features images of Waiswa Mufumbiro, the National Unity Platform (NUP) party deputy spokesperson and Fred Nyanzi, the party’s head of mobilisation. Also featured is a screenshot of a Facebook post by Barbie Kyagulanyi, wife to NUP president Robert Kyagulanyi, alias Bobi Wine, announcing Nyanzi’s alleged abduction.
However, contrary to claims in the video under analysis, Nalweyiso is not dead. Just a day before the post, Nalweyiso was hosted on Sanyuka TV. The Nile Post reports part of what Nalweyiso said in the interview.
Nalweyiso told FreemanNewsUG when contacted by telephone, “Please ignore. I am fine.”
FreemanNewsUG looked into a post on TikTok claiming that Uganda’s Lt Gen Proscovia Nalweyiso is dead and found it to be FALSE.
