Journey To Save River Mpang, Fort Portal City RCC Bayole Urges Residents to Avoid Land Degradation



Yesterday, the residents of Fort Portal City together with the office of the President  held a marathon of saving River Mpanga in Fort Portal City under the theme "Degradation and Environment in the city"

The race was flagged off by Fort Portal City RCc, Mr Stanley Bayole (Ddada Busoga) who was the Chief guest.

Mr Stanley Bayole urged the people living in the city and Ugandans at large to save the environment. 

Land degradation


"Avoid Land degradation, Leeds to  deterioration of the land's quality and productivity, often due to human activities or natural processes. It can even manifest to soil erosion, desertification, deforestation, salinization, or loss of soil fertility, among other forms. This phenomenon affects ecosystems, agriculture, and livelihoods globally"- Bayole Stressed. 

The head of security, city leaders and other stakeholders have said let there be no degradation of the environment, littering the environment, dumbing of soils on river banks and if anyone caught,  you will be charged before the courts of law. 

Other stakeholders included Hima cement company, Chaninga, Ministry of Water and Environment, The Red Cross Uganda, Secondary Schools and many other private entities awarded those who participated in marathon.
