Yesterday evening, Rt Hon. Speaker of Parliament, Anita Among hosted the Muslim community to an Iftar dinner at Parliament.
The gathering brought together cultural and religious leaders, members of the diplomatic corps, political leaders, the business community, and the general public.
In her address, she commended the Muslim faithful for their unity and support, particularly in the legislative process, which has contributed to the passing of key laws.
"I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to all our distinguished guests who honoured our invitation to Iftar at Parliament today"-Among.
She further encouraged the Muslim parliamentary Caucus to examine the constitution and all relevant laws regarding the operationalization of Qadh courts.
"If there is a need for a new law or an amendment, we are prepared to provide the necessary support to our Muslim brothers and sisters"- Among noted.
The Speaker also informed the Muslim community that Parliament has fulfilled its role in establishing Islamic banking to promote financial inclusion.
"Gratitude goes to President Museveni for endorsing the legal framework necessary to operationalize Islamic banking" -Among while wishing them Ramadhan Kareem.
during the event, the Speaker also presented awards to past Muslim Parliamentary Caucus leaders.
