Her victory will depend on the incumbent's decision to step assaide after serving for 20 years.
News from the Incumbent indicates that Hon. Connie Galiwango, the current woman Mp of Mbale City opted to pull out of active politics, though her supporters and political assistants keep pushing her for 2026.
It has always been a tight race between Lydia Wanyoto and Galiwango, which always at times gets chaotic.
Currently, Wanyoto is doing well on the grounds, most especially in the areas of Lwaso, Namabasa, Nkom, Namakwekwe and Kikoromojjo which are highly populated.
In the previous nrm primary elections of 2021 Galiwango opted to pull out of the race, claiming that they were not fare.
This saw Wanyoto declared the flag bearer, though in the finals, wantoto lost it to Galiwango.
Speaking to few senior political analysts in Bugisu, they said that Galiwango should keep his promises of not jumping back to the polls in 2026 because she won't make it.
The analysts claim that ever since she was elected in 2021, she has been very silent and this has led to less popularity for her.
Others claim that Galiwango was winning the election because of her late husband, Dr. Hassan Galiwango.
Even though the race has over 6 candidates who are in the early campaigns, the race seems to be tight between. Wanyoto and Ritah Namuwenge, the Emyooga national coordinator.
As of now, Galiwango hasn't yet made a final decision about her candidacy in 2026 though it is clear that she won't participate in the forthcoming nrm primaries.
